The social media/twittermania that&#039;s going on right now is very overblown in some ways, but on the other hand, if you&#039;re a person that&#039;s interested in getting something out there on your own or someone in the marketing field, you have to pay attention.

Definitely take some time while you&#039;re looking for jobs to learn all you can about social media (start with Twitter, since its the current crazy for &quot;social&quot; anything). Even if you determine its a waste of time, at least you have a basic familiarity so that you have something to talk about on your next interview.

Finally, for people looking for jobs, I&#039;ve found that &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.freeagentnet.com&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;The Free Agents&lt;/a&gt; is a pretty good place to meet others in the same boat. I&#039;ve found people in most fields that I&#039;ve been interested in, and its great for a potential career-switcher like me to have a place to talk to people who have been there. Definitely something to add to your job-search arsenal...
