While I’ve long supported Tim Hortons “no debit card” policy, it certainly has it’s drawbacks.
Waiting in line behind someone whose card won’t swipe properly when I’m already late for work and NEED coffee is irritating, but so is getting to a store and realizing I only have 50 cents in my pocket. No, I am not going to take a 20 out an ATM just for a double-double.
The problem will be solved by the summer, according to an article in the recent issue of Macleans.
Timmies will be introducing “contactless credit cards” that are swiped in front of a machine and we can get out with our coffee 10 seconds faster.
Hopefully I have enough gift certificates left to last until then.
